v6.4 - Push Notifications, Folder Art Styles, Metron Tokens, & Credit Repair

Until now, the only way CLU could tell you anything was via a toast in a browser. In v6.4, you can add push notifications via Apprise — one URL, 100+ services, and a push when a download finishes, fails, or a wanted issue lands in your library.

Alongside it: folder cover art gets four styles and you can pin any issue's cover as the folder's art; Metron API token support; and a credit repair sweep that fixes comics missing creator metadata.

There's other improvements too: downloads retry themselves before reporting failure, the Docker image is less than half the size it was, and archives dropped in WATCH now always get unpacked.

v6.3 - Per-User Themes, DC++ Downloads, Reading Lists on the Dashboard, & More

v6.2 adding User accounts and with v6.3 adds personalization for each user.

Themes and dashboard layouts are no longer app-wide, so a Reader can pick their own look without rearranging the owner's homepage. That was called out as a known gap in the v6.2 notes, and it's another piece of the multi-user functionality.

Alongside it, DC++ arrives as a third download source — CLU now talks to your own AirDC++ Web Client the same way it talks to SABnzbd and NZBGet — and reading lists finally reach the dashboard, so a list you've built or imported shows up in Want to Read and feeds On the Stack instead of only existing on its own page.

The rest of the release is a long run of this should have just worked: the Browse Library pager no longer requires scrolling past 250 covers, folder art generates itself, Cancel actually cancels, and the reader stops losing your place.

v6.2 - User Accounts, Library & Folder Permissions, & More

v6.2 is the release where CLU stops assuming there's only one of you.

The main highlight of this release is multi-user support: real accounts, three roles (Reader, Clerk, Store Owner), per-library and per-folder access grants, and per-user reading data so everyone's history, favorites, and stats are their own. Share your library with family or friends without handing over the keys to your settings, your file manager, or your downloads.

It's opt-in by design. If you're running CLU on your own, nothing changes — there's still no login, and every screen works exactly as it did before.

Apart from the multi-user work, there's a batch of practical fixes:

  • Live Usenet download progress on the Status page
  • Weekly Packs overhaul that stops packs from getting stuck forever
  • Metadata cleanup that merges "Ron Lim" and "Ron Lim [3258]" into one person
  • WebP output option for PDF→CBZ
  • Support for Letter-suffixed issue numbers — Gen 13 013A.cbz

v6.0 - Usenet Downloads, Library Import, Split File, & More

v6.0 is the biggest release CLU has shipped in a while, and most of it is about getting comics into your library and keeping that library organized. The headline feature is full Usenet (newsgroup) download support — SABnzbd/NZBGet clients, Usenet indexers, and end-to-end search, grab, and import that sits right alongside the existing Direct Download flow.

On top of that, the Pull List received new features: monitoring flags, color-coded collection health, bulk actions, and a series.json and .cvinfo based Import that maps your existing library in one scan.

There's also a new Split File tool for breaking multi-issue CBZs apart, a smarter and more configurable rename engine, and a set of reliability fixes for folks running CLU on FUSE/mergerfs mounts and issue matching speed improvements for large libraries and pull-lists. Here's the tour.

v4.14 - External API, Smart Rename, Trash Restore, & More

v4.14 turned out to be a much bigger release that I had planned. With no bugs surfacing, I was able to add little features here and there over the past few weeks. Combine that with a work trip that spurred development of the external API and great feedback from Discord users on a few things, and here we are.

In this release I've started building out an external API, added a metadata-driven Smart Rename for the File Manager, updated the Trash to restore files directly to their previous location,, and a proper backup/restore flow for the database. Plus a long list of quality-of-life fixes and a faster, paginated All Books and Missing XML view.

v4.11 & 12 - Manga Metadata, Reading Lists, & More

These back-to-back releases bring a highly requested additions to CLU — Manga metadata support and an absolute overhaul of Reading Lists. Additionally, we've added another metadata provider with Grand Comics Database (GCD) API support and added the ability to hide directories from your library views.
